Oak:
Only after maturation of approximately 20 months in new and one year-old French barriques – and continual sensory analysis – is the final blend for this ultra-limited wine completed.
Nose:
Smoky, ground coffee aromas of cassis, prunes and plums reveal spirity undertones of smoked oyster oak and suggestions of tea tin.
Palate:
Densely laden with thick, dripping, meaty plum-like fruit, its sumptuously concentrated palate dries out towards the finish, exposing some raw tannins and alcohol. Unlikely to cellar well, it's more of an exaggerated and awkward caricature-like shiraz that despite plenty of depth and richness, simply lacks finesse and balance.
