Yarra Yering Dry Red No.3 2021

The last fruit to be harvested from the vineyard. Hand-picked and destemmed together in a ‘field blend’ style retaining as many whole berries as possible. The first working of the must is with the feet as in a traditional lagar in Portugal to extract tannins from both skins and seeds.

A blend of touriga nacional (35%), tinta cão (35%), tinta amarela (12%), tinta roriz (7%), alvarelhão (6%) and sousão (5%) all sourced from 1990 plantings. Founder Bailey Carrodus originally planted these Portuguese varieties to make fortified wine. While the odd fortified is still made here, it’s the Dry Red Wine No. 3 – a modern-day classic – that benefits. A totally gorgeous wine that’s hard to put down once you’ve had a sip.
