Torbreck RunRig Shiraz 2022
RunRig is produced from six distinguished old-vine Shiraz vineyards in the Barossa Valley, with some plantings exceeding 170 years of age. Each parcel is hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented separately in traditional open-top fermenters. Following basket pressing, the wine is matured for approximately 30 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barriques. A small proportion of Viognier is blended prior to bottling to enhance aromatic lift.
The 2022 vintage was characterised by above average winter rains making up for a dry autumn, leading to full canopies and healthy vines for the harvest. A severe hailstorm across some parts of the Valley in late October resulted in lower average yields.
