Michael Shiraz is Wynns Coonawarra Estate’s best-of-vintage Shiraz. The first Michael (then named Michael Hermitage) was a one-off make from the 1955 vintage, made after proprietor David Wynn noticed the outstanding quality of the wine from two particular barrels and ordered them to be bottled separately. This wine – named after Wynn’s young son – is a legend of the Australian wine story.

Subtle notes of black cherry provide layered depth and complexity. A red fruit thread creates an intensely bright core. Soft framing powdery tannins, restrained nutty oak and hints of ginger add elegant savoury notes and the promise of silky elegance as this wine ages.
