Domaine Armand Rousseau Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2019

"The 2019 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is highly perfumed on the nose, presenting an irresistible mixture of red and subtle blue fruit, very harmonious and exquisitely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. A feminine and very elegant Clos de la Roche that may well be earlier-drinking than others but feels very poised, with a touch of spice on the finish. Excellent." – Neal Martin, Dec 2020.

Clos de la Roche sits at the northern boundary of the village of Morey-Saint-Denis and directly borders the Grand Crus of Gevrey-Chambertine. Domaine Armand Rousseau owns a little more than 3.5 acres of the 33 total acres under vine. Though just a stones throw from Chambertin this Grand Cru sits with a more southern exposure and mineral laiden soil, producing wines of great concentration and purity, typically maturing sooner than it’s neighbors to the north.
