Dal Zotto Barbera

The Dal Zotto philosophy begins with what is closest to their hearts – family. From rural life in Italy, to settling in the King Valley, to pioneering Italian grape varieties, the journey has been a shared one. Along the way, from the good times at the table to their appetite for discovery in the vineyard and winery, it is “La Famiglia” that has brought it all together.

James Halliday: 93

Good colour, with slightly spicy and distinct mineral complexity; high levels of acid, but with fairly tame tannins; the palate is very long, fine and quite poised on the finish.

Cellaring:

Enjoy now or 3 to 5 years

Nose:

Typically deep in colour for the variety, the bouquet is savoury and rugged, with anise, fennel, roasted meat and liqueur soaked dark plums.

Palate:

Full of serious intent, again showing deep and dark black fruits, with the acidity playing a pivotal role as this low tannin variety provides fine fruit of thrust and cut rather than rugged and drying tannin to conclude; think game and braises and you are on your way to heaven
