Domaine de Beaurenard is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône. It has been a family estate for 7 generations, now run by brothers Daniel and Frédéric Coulon . The vineyard covers 32 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 25 hectares in Rasteau and 6 hectares in Côtes-du-Rhône. They cultivate the 13 grape varieties authorized for the AOC, and the average age of the vines is around 45 years. The entire vineyard is managed using certified organic farming , and also cultivated using certified biodynamic methods . The grapes, harvested manually at optimal maturity, are transported to the winery in small crates to avoid crushing the grapes, which would cause oxidation that would be detrimental to quality.
Châteauneuf -du-Pape red is a blend of Grenache (65%), Syrah (15%), Mourvèdre (10%) supplemented by various grape varieties authorized for the appellation. The grapes are co-fermented with indigenous yeasts, a long vatting is implemented for delicate extraction.
