Bas Armagnac Castarede 1987

A 1987 vintage Armagnac from the historic Castaréde house.

This has been sourced from the Bas-Armagnac region, which has a sandy soil thanks to its lower altitude.

This 1987 vintage is a powerful expression, fresh and fruit-driven on the nose. Hints of liquorice as well.

It’s not as earthy as some other Armagnacs, but still definitely in the style and very enjoyable.

The Castaréde house traces its origins back to 1832, where it was involved in trading Armagnac through Pont de Bordes, near Nérac. It is claimed that this was the first Armagnac ‘trading house’ in France, which at that point was not equipped with a railway system. The company is still run by the family.
