Bodegas Valdemar Valdemoreda Tempranillo 2016
Tempranillo is named for the Spanish 'temprano', which means 'early', due to the fact that it ripens several weeks earlier than most Spanish red grapes. The black grape widely grown to make full-bodied red wines in its native Spain, Tempranillo can be spicy when grown in cooler regions, whilst warmer regions bring out its sweeter fruity flavours. High in tannins and acidity, wines based on Tempranillo, especially from Spain's Rioja and Ribera del Duero, age extremely well. In Australia the variety was pioneered by Brown Brothers, and does especially well in Heathcote, King Valley, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Geographe, Margaret River and in Queensland's Granite Belt. Tapas and grilled meats are the perfect foods to enjoy with Tempranillo wines.
