Gaelic Cemetery McAskill Riesling 2020
McAskill as you may know is the family name of the man who arrived on the HMS Hercules’ from Uist to Adelaide that went on to settle the district. Gaelic Cemetery think naming one their of top tier wines after the family name is a great way to honor their name.
The Gaelic Cemetery Vineyard itself was established in 1996 on a parcel of land immediately adjacent to the historic Gaelic Cemetery approximately five kilometres due north of the Clare township – hence the name.
The Gaelic Cemetery Vineyard label design reflects the simplicity and minimal intervention approach they take with the wine. The image of the thistle is taken from an old headstone in the cemetery.
